Outcome Not Surprising

The long awaited showdown at the Northern Hemisphere Duplicate Bridge championship held last night at Ocean Village, Ft. Pierce Florida, provided some surprises, but not the placement of B.Smeed and R. Ambler atop the leaderboard. The winning team easily outpaced the second place team by a margin of 6.5 match points, 46.00 to 39.5. What came as some surprise was the poor finish of the D.Smeed and J.Ambler team who finished a dismal 10th and last place with only 25.5 match points. After hearing the results this morning they were seen, heads hung low, muttering unintelligible comments as they left to ease their sorrows at the shopping mall.
